Hello everyone, I am Teacher Xu from Yibei Education! Starting today, I will bring you the “MBLEx Exam Hands-on Guide” series.

In this series, I will use a relaxed and interesting way, starting from the perspective of the overall framework, to explain to you the necessary knowledge for massage exams, such as the human skeleton, muscles, joints, physiology, massage techniques, and test preparation precautions, to help students who have just started preparing for the federal exam to build a knowledge system so that everyone knows clearly what they are about to learn.

Don’t worry, I will use the simplest Chinese so that everyone can learn knowledge in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Even if you have no basic knowledge, you can understand it!

Now, let’s get started!

【Basic knowledge of anatomy】

Our body is like a wonderful building, bones are the framework that supports it, and muscles are the source of power. Let’s get to know our “home” together!

1. Bones

The human body has a total of 206 bones divided into four parts: head, trunk, upper limbs and lower limbs.

  • Head: Mainly composed of skull and facial bones

The skull is like a roof, protecting our precious brain; the facial bones are like walls, supporting our face.

Among them, the main bones of the skull are: frontal bone (Frontal Bone), parietal bone (Parietal Bone), occipital bone (Occipital Bone).

  • Torso: Mainly composed of the spine and thorax

The spine is like a pillar, supporting our body and protecting our spinal cord; the thorax is like a safe, protecting our heart and lungs.

Among them, the main bones of the spine are: cervical vertebrae (Cervical Vertebrae), thoracic vertebrae (Thoracic Vertebrae), lumbar vertebrae (Lumbar Vertebrae); the main bones of the thorax are: ribs (Ribs) and sternum (Sternum).

  • Upper limbs: mainly composed of shoulder girdle and arm

The shoulder straps act like a boom, connecting our arms; the arm joints act like a universal joint, allowing us to move freely.

The main bones of the shoulder girdle are: clavicle, scapula; the main bones of the arm are: humerus, ulna, radius.

  • Lower limbs: mainly composed of pelvic girdle and leg

The pelvis acts as a support plate, supporting our upper body; the leg muscles and joints allow us to walk and jump easily.

The main bones of the pelvis are the hip bone and sacrum; the main bones of the leg are the femur, tibia, and fibula.

2. Muscles

The human body has about 600 muscles in total, divided into four parts: head and neck, trunk, upper limbs and lower limbs.

  • Head and neck: (Main muscles include) temporalis muscle, masseter muscle, and neck muscles.

The temporalis and masticatory muscles work together to allow us to bite food; the neck muscles are like thin ropes that keep the head stable.

  • Trunk: (Main muscles include) back muscles (Back Muscles), abdominal muscles (Abdominal Muscles) and chest muscles (Chest Muscles).

The back muscles are like the guardians of the spine, maintaining our stability; the abdominal muscles are like springs, helping us to move the torso; and the chest muscles are like rubber bands, participating in upper limb movements.

  • Upper limbs: (Main muscles include) deltoid, biceps brachii, triceps brachii.

The deltoids are like the wings of the shoulders, responsible for shoulder movement; the biceps and triceps are like a powerful motor, controlling the flexion and extension of the arms.

  • Lower limbs: (Main muscles include) gluteal muscles (Gluteal Muscles), thigh muscles (Thigh Muscles) and calf muscles (Calf Muscles).

The hip muscles are like powerful engines that drive the movement of our lower limbs; the thigh muscles are like two long springs that help us move our legs; and the calf muscles are like elastic balls that allow us to walk and jump easily.

3. Joints

The joints of the human body are called “joint” in English and “articulation” in Latin. In anatomy, they refer to the movable connection between two or more bones.

According to function, joints can be divided into three types:

synarthrosis

amphiarthrosis

diarthrosis movable joints (fluid in the joints – synovial fluid)

The names of these joints seem difficult to remember, so let’s first look at their common suffixes:

-arthrosis

It has two meanings:

First, it refers to the joints between bones; second, it refers to degenerative diseases of the joints.

So, from now on, when you see a word with the suffix -arthrosis, you will know that it must be related to joints.

synarthrosis

syn-, this prefix means “together”

Synchronous means “synchronous”

When the two bones connected by a joint move “together” and “synchronously”, the joint is called a “fixed joint”.

amphiarthrosis

amphi means “both”

Amphiarthrosis means a slightly movable joint, also called a cartilaginous joint or a double joint.

diarthrosis A movable joint or a movable joint.

There are gaps between the bones of the movable joints, which contain synovial fluid. When the joint surfaces contact and slide against each other, the friction coefficient and wear can be reduced to a minimum.

In addition to being classified by function, joints can also be divided according to structure.

You don’t have to memorize the classification of joints. Yibei’s courses will be based on specific topics to explain in detail the characteristics and typical representatives of various joints. It will also use interesting word memorization methods to help you remember these complex joint vocabulary more easily.
